From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
