Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
