Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the Premier League under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, that means I could make the decision in a few years, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on the specific conditions must arise to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather through long matches; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or constant media duties weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, crediting him due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences at the club. Jota died tragically in a road accident with his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for the entire squad as well. No one within the club might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
