Los Angeles Experiences Record-Breaking Heat Only Days After Major Winter Storm.
In the wake of heavy downpours that caused flooding across sections of the city, Los Angeles is now seeing unusually warm weather for this time of year.
Record-Setting Readings
On Friday midday, the mercury soared to 91°F (33°C) in central LA, as reported by the National Weather Service. This easily surpasses the previous daily record for February 27th, which was 88°F (31°C) and was established in the previous year.
"Unusually high temperatures" were highlighted on official graphics for the region.
Public Health Advisories
The weather service cautioned that Friday's conditions posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their guidance suggested:
- Keeping well-hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
- Not leaving kids or animals unattended in a car.

Several cities that reached ninety degrees featured Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Additionally, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to see the high 80s.
For the weekend, downtown LA can see temperatures in the 80s, with cooler weather on tap for the start of March.
