Netflix Casts Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t unfold until the third season, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has just been cast.

Netflix announced recently that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. The role has the ability to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the initial comic and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to reality, featuring head Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and a familiar face, who also joins the ensemble as the ruler of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With the second season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this marks a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and several accolades for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece program is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
