It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
