The network's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.
In October of last year, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network unveiled a fresh animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often marked by dark humor, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and turned it into a surprise hit.
A Major Commitment
In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.
"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."
Network Praise
Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and championed its peculiarly charming appeal.
"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"
A Wholesome Alternative
When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about observing this endearing family navigate their simple existence.
In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to evolve comedy past its prevailing cynical streak. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.
“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”
Future Seasons
Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well catalyze that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the beloved Campbell clan.
The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
