Two Victims Identified in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted words of sorrow online, stating: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were injured in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our city”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Police that raided the lodging found two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, a single scholar was allowed to go home, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a statement. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and peers and lament the passing of his potential.”
